Prospective suppliers
Broadlane is pleased to invite suppliers who are not current contracted Broadlane suppliers and are interested in participating in our client-driven contracting process to register with our Prospective Supplier Database. Before each competitive bid/RFP event, Strategic Sourcing staff consults the Prospective Supplier Database to determine which suppliers have indicated their desire to participate in an RFP for the specific products or services in process.
Registered suppliers will be included in the relevant competitive bid/RFP process, subject to our client advisory committees’ endorsement of their inclusion. At the direction of our client committees, Broadlane will not include in the competitive bid/RFP process suppliers currently listed on the excluded supplier lists of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) or General Service Administration (GSA). Please complete the Professional Service and Supplier Profile Form to register in the Prospective Supplier Database.
The Broadlane contract portfolio represents more than 1,000 manufacturer, distributor and service contracts that cover a significant portion of client expenditures for equipment, consumable supplies, pharmaceuticals, patient implants, labor staffing and other purchased services.
Criteria for evaluating potential suppliers
The general criteria that Broadlane's client committees use to evaluate a potential supplier include:
- The ability to decrease Broadlane clients' purchase costs for the category.
- The ability to provide excellent client service and field support for Broadlane's client facilities.
- The ability to provide products that meet the specifications of the applicable client advisory committee (for example, size and durability, and full line of replacement parts).
- The ability to provide a safe product.
- The ability to provide an environmentally friendly product.
- Sound financial condition (for example, recent financial reporting and favorable financial rating from an independent third party).
Each Request for Proposal issued to interested suppliers also contains the list of key requirements that Broadlane's client committees have specified for the specific category. During the negotiation of supplier proposals, Broadlane staff is available to all bidding suppliers to clarify any questions about the stated requirements.
Bid categories
Broadlane's contracting opportunities undergo a competitive bid/RFP process approximately 3 to 6 months prior to the expiration of current contracts in that category. Broadlane client advisory committees may at their discretion periodically decide to extend a particular contract category for some period of time for strategic reasons. If that occurs, the Broadlane website will be updated with new information and expiration dates for that category. New categories added at the request of our client advisory committees are typically addressed within 12 months.
Prospective suppliers are contacted ONLY if their company receives client advisory committee endorsement for inclusion in the bid categories in which they do business.
Supplier diversity
Broadlane strives to be a leader in promoting supplier development. We believe that supplier diversity is not only an important part of our commitment to be a good corporate citizen, but also a business imperative. Broadlane is strongly committed to meeting the needs of our clients through diversity, including seeking certified small, minority, women and veteran-owned business enterprises and provide the most practical opportunity to participate in our contracting activities.
Environmental stewardship
Broadlane takes environmental stewardship seriously and is constantly seeking ways to take a leadership role in this area. Broadlane has taken a public role in supporting the environment by joining Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) as a “Champion for Change."
Broadlane's Ethics and Compliance Program
Broadlane’s commitment to the highest ethical standards and to strict compliance with the law is set forth in our Ethics and Compliance Program, a written code of business ethics and conduct adopted by the Governance and Ethics Committee of Broadlane’s Board of Directors that provides Broadlane’s employees, directors, and committee members with the resources necessary to conduct Broadlane’s business responsibly.
